Alexander Simpson is the Technology leader for Aerodynamics at GE Global Research and is part of James Maughan's ATMS organization. In this capacity he leads a global team of researchers based in the US, Germany and India developing technology for GE Aviation, Energy, Oil & Gas and Transportation. The team uses a range of numerical and experimental approaches and collaborates closely with a number of internal and external organizations. An Australian National, Alex started his career with GE in January 2005 following completion of his PhD at Cambridge University in the UK in Mechanical Engineering.
The keynote will give an overview of the utilization of HPC and high fidelity simulation at both GE Global Research and the broader GE, the benefits it is providing and challenges to its greater adoption in the industrial community.
